By October 1, 2013, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that all employers send all current employees a “Notice” about the availability of the Exchanges (also known as the “Marketplace”).  Additionally, you must provide the Notice to all new employees at the time of hire or within 14 days of the employee’s start date.  Please note that it is the responsibility of the employer to communicate this Notice to your employees. 

The attached sample Notice was mailed to all active signatory employers who make contributions on behalf of their employees to the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Health and Welfare Fund in order to assist them with the preparation of the Notice. You are not obligated to use the attached sample Notice, but the Federal Government requires that you, the employer, send a notice that contains all the necessary information.  If you choose to use the attached sample Notice, you will also need to fill in your contact information on page 1 and complete questions 3-12 in Part B.
